Gentlemen,
I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of
your letter No. 250 P/Estates 232 of the 29th September on the subject of the estate of the late Mr. J. Ross
in which you enclosed copies of correspondence regard-
ing Mrs. C. Ross' claim to be regarded as the widow of the deceased,
The Director of the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Fund has, however, received further correspondenc copy attached, from Mr. Robert White, Solicitor, Edinburgh, enclosing documentary evidence in support of Mrs. Jane Ross' claims, which in his opinion and in that of the Colonial Government's Law Officers appears to be conclusive, unless you have in the meantime received additional evidence which has not been communicated to
this Government.
If you are satisfied as to the validity of Lrs. Jane Ross' title the Directors of the Fund desire to accept your decision and I am to request that you would be so good as to pay to the Executrix of the Will any moneys due from deceased's estate, and to pay the Widows' and Orphans' pension to Mrs. Jane Ross through her Solicitor.
I am, 40.
